Pools · Courtyards · Outdoor living

Outdoor rooms,
shaped by light.

Terra Forma designs pools and courtyards as architecture: stone, water and shade, composed to be lived in from the first light of the morning to the last hour of the night.

One courtyard, through the day

The courtyard pool at dusk with warm pavilion light

One courtyard, one day. Move the light. Concept imagery.

Process

From drawing
to water.

  1. A hand-drawn pencil plan of a courtyard pool

    01 — Drawing

    It starts on paper.

Every courtyard is drawn by hand first: proportions, light and the way people will move through it.

  2. Samples of travertine, basalt, teak and bronze on a stone table

    02 — Materials

    Chosen by touch.

Stone, timber and metal are selected together, in daylight, so they age as one.

  3. A smooth concrete pool shell with timber formwork

    03 — Build

    Built with precision.

Clean lines are made in the structure, long before the water arrives.

  4. Still water meeting a thin travertine edge

    04 — Water

    Then, the water.

The last material is the one that moves. Everything before it is designed to hold it still.

Materials

Four materials,
one palette.

Travertine texture

Honed ivory stone that stays cool underfoot and softens with every summer.
